BREAKING: Supreme Court Sacks Bayelsa Governor-elect, Declares PDP Winner

The governor-elect of Bayelsa State, David Lyon and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo, have been on Tuesday sacked by the Supreme Court.

Justice Mary Odili, who led the panel of five-man justices held that Degi-Eremieoyo presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

It held that the Form CF 001 Degi-Eremieoyo submitted to INEC for the purpose of the November 16, 2019, governorship election in the state, contained false information of fundamental nature.

According to Justice Ejembi Eko who delivered the lead judgement reinstated the November 12, 2019, Judgement of the Federal High Court in Abuja that disqualified Degi-Eremieoyo from participating in the governorship poll.

The apex court held that since Degi-Eremieoyo shared a joint ticket with the governor-elect, his disqualification invalidated their nomination by the All Progressive Congress, APC.

The court however, ordered INEC to immediately withdraw the Certificate of Return that was issued to them and issue a fresh one to the party that secured the second highest number of votes and got the required constitutional spread.

According to Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, about one billion barrels of crude oil have been discovered in the North-East part of Nigeria.

1bn Barrel Of Crude Oil Discovered In North East

The Minister reveal this this on Wednesday at a news conference on the 2020 Nigeria International Petroleum Summit (NIPS) held in Abuja.

He said;

The figure we are getting, the jury is not totally out yet but from the evaluation results we are getting the reserve that has been discovered in the northeast is about a billion barrels.

Those are the kind of figures we are seeing and we are beginning to understand the geological structure of the region.

A lot of oil is yet to be discovered in the country.

There is a need for more exploration as more oil would be discovered.
Speaking on the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, the minister said he was confident that the bill would be passed in June based on the cordial relationship between the legislature and the executive.

He added:

We are banking on the fact today to make that promise on the fact that there is a very cordial relationship now between the legislature and executive.

Today Nigerians all agree that there is a need for us to pass the PIB.

For so long we have been quivering about the PIB, for more than 20 years. And for so long, we have not been able to attract a lot of investment into the oil sector.

Let me give you an example, by the year 2002, our oil reserves stood at around 22 billion barrels. We were able to grow that reserve from 22 billion barrels to 37 billion barrels by 2007.

'Fight For Gay Rights To Avoid Loveless Marriage' - Kiki Mordi Tells Women

Nigerian journalist, media personality, filmmaker and writer, Kiki Mordi has advised women to fight for Gay Rights to avoid being trapped in a loveless marriage to a homosexual.

According to Kiki Mordi, humans deserve to marry who they want and it’s better for women to fight for gay rights to avoid being in a marriage with someone with different sexuality.

Taking to her twitter handle, she wrote;

Women remember to fight for gay rights so the men who love themselves can marry themselves and not rope you into a loveless marriage.

But most importantly because humans deserve to marry who they want.

Vice versa for men even though we know the dynamics are way different.

Following recent comments from the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Hassan Kukah over security challenges in the country, especially in the North East Nigeria.

Preach Peaceful Co-existence Among Nigerians - BMO to Kukah

Kukah and other Religious Leaders have been called upon by the Buhari Media Organisation, BMO, to preach peaceful co-existence among Nigerians

In a statement signed by Niyi Akinsiju, in Abuja on Wednesday, BMO pleaded with Kukah to stop stoking the embers of ethnic and religious division in the country.

The statement reads;

It is important to note that the adherents of both religions have lived together for a very long time and co-habited peacefully as one people.

And the least that is expected of Bishop Kukah and other influential Nigerians is to preach peace and promote peaceful co-existence among all Nigerians.

We need to remind Bishop Kukah that his verbal attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari has the capacity to polarise the country along religious lines.

To the best of our knowledge, the president has concentrated on rebuilding the country in the core areas of economy, security and fight against corruption.

Rather than highlighting our differences, we appeal to Bishop Kukah to use his vantage priestly position to promote understanding and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.

We condemn the unlawful and gruesome killing of a Catholic seminarian, and other persons by kidnappers.

It is important we rally together as a people to support Buhari and his administration under these difficult circumstances

Some residents of Borno state booed President Muhammadu Buhari as his convoy made its way into Maiduguri on Wednesday.

As the convoy of the president made its way, some residents shouted in Hausa: “Bama so!” “Bamayi!”, which translates to “We don’t want; we’re not interested.”

Below is a video of people protesting on Wednesday;

Resign Humbly Now, You’re Worse Than Jonathan – Northern Youths Tell Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked by the Coalition of Concerned Northern Youths, CCNY, to honourably resign as Nigeria’s President.

Resign Humbly Now, You’re Worse Than Jonathan – Northern Youths Tell Buhari

According to the group Buhari has failed woefully, citing the President’s lack of the will power to tackle the security challenges facing the country.

The Northern youths said;

The above named coalition wishes to make its position clear regarding the insecurity problem that has been ravaging Nigeria particularly the Northern part for long.

We, as a coalition that represents millions of youths from various nooks and crannies of Northern Nigeria, are pained by the insecurity problem that threatens to consume our region, the North.

It is a glaring fact that security situation of Nigeria is seriously deteriorating and our agony as victims is aggravating. This lingering insecurity problem is one of the major reasons that made us to clamour for change and voted Goodluck Jonathan out in 2015.

But instead of getting panacea for the problem, we just got respite and now the problem has been resurfacing with escalating dimension under the watch of someone that vowed to be our saviour.

almost five years now and the country under the watch of Buhari is either worse than the Jonathan administration or it is no different from the previous government despte the fact that in his first term, “Buhari pledged that his government would bring an end to the national suffering inflicted by insecurity.

Our stance as youths and backbone four nation is that we grow tired of excuses while our lives are being taken on hourly basis.

We cannot continue watching while our region is being turned to ashes and cemetery.

We cannot keep mute while our futureis being punctured and fractured due to the carelessness and negligence of those that are entrusted with our protection.

Our investigation revealed that about 80% of the victims of this insecurity are Nigerian youths particularly Northerners considering the fact that the kidnapped and the kidnappers are mostly youths,the killed and the killers are mostly youths, the soldiers on warfront and the terrorists are mostly youths also.

It is on reliable and available records that not less than 245 persons were killed in violent attacks across Nigeriain January 2020 only.

The Expat Insider Survey of 2019 by Inter Nations has revealed that Nigeria is the third most dangerous country in the world due to widespread insecurity and corruption.

The aforementioned facts have irrefutably shown that Muhammadu Buhari as President of Nigeria has woefully failed to secure the lives of Nigerians due to probably lack of will, commitment or competence.

If we did not forget, when Nigeria was boiling under Jonathan with Boko Haram massacring thousands and over runing-military barracks, almost all Nigerians believed Jonthan was not fit to rescue Nigeria and was voted out.

Now that the same insecurity problem is replaying itself under President Muhammadu Buhari,we are left with no option than to repectfully but vehemently call on President Muhammadu Buhari to honourably resign to give room for someone who has what it takes to address the security problem that constantly turns our nation to another version of Somalia.

The above call is made in the best interest of the nation having considered the fact that insecurity problem is caused and maintained by nothing but the failure of leadership.
