Churches And Mosques Won't Be Closed Because Of Coronavirus, It Cannot Survive In The Body Of Jesus - Tanzania's President

Due to an ongoing outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a novel coronavirus, Tanzania President John Magufuli has said that his government would not shut down places of worship as they are the only places for true healing..

During a church service in the capital, Dodoma, Magufuli stated that coronavirus is of the devil and cannot survive while in the “body of Christ”.

He added that churches and mosques are the only place where true healing can be found.

He said;

These Holy places are where God is. My fellow Tanzanians, let us not be afraid of going to praise Him.

Corona cannot survive in the body of Christ, it will burn. That is exactly why I did not panic while taking the Holy communion.

The president's statement is coming after the country has recorded 12 coronavirus cases so far, leading to a call form restriction on public gatherings.

Meanwhile, the Tanzanian's president has come under attack especially from the opposition as the opposition leader, Zitto Kabwe criticized his statement and also reignited the call for churches and mosques to be closed down to curb the spread of the virus.

The opposition leader said;

Let’s not argue with science.
