BREAKING: 'I Am Not Involved In Sanusi’s Removal' – Buhari

Muhammadu Sanusi II was dethroned on Monday for "insubordination", the Kano state government said.

BREAKING: I Am Not Involved In Sanusi’s Removal – Buhari

He was escorted out of the palace by security officers, and replaced by his predecessor's son, Aminu Ado Bayero.

However there are fingers pointing at president Muhammadu Buhari for being responsible for the removal of one of Nigeria's most influential Muslim and traditional leaders, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

According to the media aide to the president Garba Shehu, the President, Muhammadu Buhari, has no hand in the dethronement of Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano.

He said this in a series of tweets on Wednesday.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Garba Shehu wrote;

President Buhari commends the people of Kano for keeping calm in the past few days of the dethronement announcement.

They all have their powers specified under the Constitution.

President Muhammadu Buhari has no involvement whatsoever in the dethronement of HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II from the position of Emir of Kano. All such insinuations are untrue, malicious and politically motivated.

He prays that the will of Allah will be done at all times, and that the emirate/state and its people continue to experience progress irrespective of who is on the throne.
