Thomas Dennerby Resigns As Super Falcons Head Coach

Super Falcons head coach Thomas Dennerby has walked out of his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

FreshReporters News learnt that the Swedish born tactician sent his resignation letter to the country's football body having stayed away from the team in their last two matches.

The 60-year-old was not the coach at the stands when the eighth time AWCON queens crashed out of the 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers after losing to Ivory Coast on away goals rule.

Dennerby turned down a chance to reconcile his differences with the NFF when new sports minister Sunday Dare called for a meeting, BBC Sport reports.

Although, the manager's contract is due to expire next year, the Swede claimed unpaid wages among others were his reasons for refusing to see out his contract.

He also insisted that he does not have the co-operation of some of the NFF members, while his failure to get accommodation in the country are other reasons.

A NFF official said "Mr Dennerby has sent his resignation letter to the NFF and this doesn't surprise anyone because he decided to stay away from the team last month"

"He says he has now left everything with his lawyers and the NFF will make a statement at the right time."

Dennerby was appointed in January 2018 - succeeding Florence Omagbemi who led the team to AWCON glory in 2016.
