What Neymar Needs To Do To Help Seal Barcelona Return

Neymar has told Paris Saint-Germain that he wants to leave and return to Barcelona this summer, whilst claiming he should never have left the Spanish club.
What Neymar needs to do to help seal Barcelona return

That’s according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

The Brazilian winger has been linked with a return back to Barcelona this summer, as he has apparently grown tired of life in France.

Having become the most expensive player in the history of football back in 2017 when he signed for PSG in a £198million move, Neymar’s time in Paris has been turbulent to say the least.

Despite winning Ligue 1 twice in succession, the superstar has been criticised for his antics on and off the pitch, and has recently been cast in the shadow of French World Cup superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Neymar was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year in both seasons in the French league, despite only playing 20 games in his first season and 17 in his second.

After suffering two major injuries, he appears set on a return to the Nou Camp, with reports circulating that Barca will offer up £89million and three players to bring the player back to the club.

Ivan Rakitic, Ousmane Dembele and Samuel Umtiti are all expected to be used in the deal from Barcelona.

Now, Neymar has apparently taken an extra step towards forcing the move, by demanding PSG allow him to leave.

According to the report in Mundo Deportivo, the star told PSG he had no interest in staying and says he wants to return home.

Earlier this week, PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi suggested that he would not force Neymar to stay if he didn’t want to.

He appeared to be responding to the Brazilian’s plea to leave, as he said he didn’t want any superstar behaviour at the club.

"I want players willing to give everything to defend the honour of the jersey and join the club project," the president said.

"Those who do not want to, or do not understand, we see each other and talk about it.

"Of course there are contracts that must be respected, but now the priority is the total members of the project.

"Nobody forced him to sign here, nobody pushed him in. He came knowingly to join a project."
